15 Jun 2011 - The Indian BOPP film industry has been steadily growing over the last years. New investments in state-of-the-art machinery have been made to meet the high demands of the end-use sectors, such as flexible packaging. The explosive growth of organized retail will also continue to usher a significant growth for the next 8 - 10 years.
Exactly the right time for the first ever exclusive BOPP conference in India, the “BOPP India 2011”, held in Mumbai at the beginning of June. Excellently organized by Colour Publicatios Pvt. Ltd. and the Society of Plastics Engineers India (SPE), the conference brought together retailers and brand owners, raw material suppliers, film producers and converters, on a single neutral platform, to propel the industry's growth, exploring new applications using contemporary technology.
More than a dozen speakers from India and abroad brought up solutions how to further improve BOPP film quality and how to generally increase the share of BOPP films in the Indian flexible packaging market. Markus Gschwandtner, Sales Director of Brückner Maschinenbau focused in his speech on “Latest Developments in BOPP Film Production Lines” and gained the audience’s attention with exactly the issue the industry is looking for: the highly efficient and profitable manufacture of added value BOPP films.
To sum up: India`s BOPP film industry is definitely on the rise and “BOPP India 2011” was a perfect forum to discuss upcoming developments. Hopefully it will be continued in 2012.
